Welcome to When the Ancestors Speak, a research firm specializing in genealogy and genetic genealogy research. Our founder, Robin Semple, is an experienced genealogist with over 30 years of research experience, holding a certificate in genealogical research and a graduate certificate in forensic genetic genealogy.
Our mission is to help descendants of formerly enslaved people, free people of color, and tri-racial isolates discover their family history. We utilize standard genealogical research practices and believe this is a unique moment in history to engage audiences in stories that highlight little-known aspects of African American and formerly enslaved people’s history in America.
We understand the importance of DNA research and results, along with search engines like Ancestry.com and FamilySearch, historical documents, and written works. We leverage all of these resources to provide the best service possible to our clients.
Based in New York City, we have access to the world’s most vibrant research community, and we can travel to clients around the United States. Most client interaction is handled through online platforms for convenience and efficiency.
